Hollande, Erdogan pledge reinforced cooperation to eradicate terrorists


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) French President Francois Hollande and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated, over phone talks, their common determination to fight against terrorism and to cement security cooperation to halt terrorists' offensive in Syriaand Iraq, French presidency said on Monday.

In a statement released by his office, Hollande discussed with Turkish leader the situation in Syria and called on Ankara to boost its commitment alongside the United States -led coalition that target the Islamic State (IS), also called Daech, in Syria.

Last week, Turkey launched air strikes against IS group and the PKK (Kurdistan's Workers Party) in Syria and Iraq for the first time in the last two-and-a-half years.

Hollande and Erdogan also called on Syrian opposition to strengthen dialogue in order to create "a free and united Syria".
