(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) H E Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs said that countries should have good and positive relations to achieve common interest and not at the expense of the other party.
Speaking a a joint press conference in Cairo with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry on Monday he said that Oman has good relations with all countries in the world.
As for establishing a joint Arab force H E Alawi said that the sultanate hopes that this force is established to meet needs of the current time.
He also added that the proposed Arab joint force is a voluntary initiative that aims at ensuring stability and not targeting any party. It is rather to defend the Arab joint interests.
He stressed on the importance of finding political solutions to problems in the Arab world and that violence and power will lead to nothing. He highlighted the coordination with Egypt about the challenges facing the region and stressed on the importance of Arab cooperation in complex issues.
He congratulated the Egyptian people for opening of the new Suez Canal and hailed the digging of this canal in such a very short time.
On his part the Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed on the deep-rooted relations binding Egypt and Oman pointing out that the leaderships in both countries seek to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation. He hailed sultanate's stances towards Egypt in many occasions.
He also pointed out that there will be an agreement to increase exchange visits between the two sides on different levels.
He also said that the meeting covered situations in Syria Libya and exchanged views on the importance of close consultation between the two countries to find suitable solutions for these issues and maintain the Arab national security
Ambassador Badr Abdul Ati spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two ministers also discussed developments in Yemen and the efforts made to push forward a political solution.
