(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) France supports Turkey's efforts in protecting its national security, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday.
"We stand alongside Turkey in its efforts in protecting its national security and fighting against terrorism. France and Turkey are on the same side within the framework of international coalition against the terrorist group Daesh," it said, adding that France also supported Turkish authorities in re-establishing dialogue with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Turkish jets bombed PKK camps in northern Iraq and launched attacks against Daesh in Syria last week after a series of attacks targeting Turkish security forces in the country's southeastern region. The attacks are believed to have been carried out by the outlawed organization.
Sweden also announced its support for Turkey, calling it "an important partner of the European Union in the fight against terrorism and Daesh".
"We are ready to offer all kinds of support to Turkey in this regard," Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom told Swedish national broadcaster SVT.
Wallstrom condemned the July 20 Daesh-suspected suicide bombing in Turkey's southeastern border town of Suruc that killed 32 activists, calling it "an attack against all humanity".
"This attack was not only committed against civilians, but also against Turkey's humanitarian policies on Syrian refugees," she said.
Wallstrom also called for a resumption of the "solution process" talks between the Turkish government and the PKK, saying a breach of the cease-fire would deeply affect regional stability.
The so-called "solution process" refers to a Turkish government initiative launched in 2013 to end the decades-old conflict with the outlawed PKK in the country's eastern and southeastern regions.
The new wave of tension is feared to pose a severe blow to the process, during which the PKK declared a cease-fire.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S., the EU and Turkey.
