Kuwait -MP Urges Rail, Metro Authority

(MENAFN- Arab Times) MP Faisal Al- Kandari has proposed the establishment of a public authority to manage metro and railway projects, similar to what other countries have done. He pointed out the metro and railway projects are vital for economic and national development, because they are the components of strategic infrastructure works for improving transport services locally and internationally while complementing all forms of transportation - land, sea and air. He said other Gulf countries have started the implementation of the railway project to link the entire Gulf, but Kuwait is still lagging behind.

Meanwhile, MP Jamal Al-Omar called for unity to defuse tension in the country which, in one way or another, has been affected by disturbing regional developments. He urged all the wise people of this country to work together in addressing the issue, indicating they should convince the public that everyone will be affected regardless of their social status. In another development, MP Mohammed Tana has forwarded queries to the Social Affairs and Labor minister and head of the Supreme Council for Handicapped Affairs on the alleged corruption in the Family Care Home.

Last weekend, Tana announced his intention to submit a grilling request against the minister in the next legislative round over financial and administrative irregularities in the Public Authority for Manpower, cooperative sector, welfare homes and Public Authority for Handicapped Affairs (PAHA).

He wants to know whether it is true that the girls living in the Family Care Home have been offered money for them to leave the facility; number of girls who grabbed the offer, if any; legal basis for taking this decision; copies of the decisions and minutes of committee meetings regarding the issue, if any; number of girls referred to police stations, if any; reasons for referring them to the authorities; detention period; date of release; persons responsible for the release; number of suicide and murder cases among the children in the Family Care Home, if any; and copies of reports in this regard.
