Kuwait -Cabinet Stresses Importance Of GCC Security And Stability


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Cabinet on Monday lauded efforts by Bahrain which led to thwarting an attempt to smuggle weapons and explosives into the Kingdom targeting its security and stability. During the weekly routine meeting held at Bayan Palace, the Cabinet stressed the necessity of coordinating efforts to counter terrorism, so as to deprive whosoever targeting security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states of the opportunity, and to guarantee the bloc's security and stability, said Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
Meanwhile, today's meeting, chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled AlHamad Al-Sabah, strongly condemned storming of by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers on Sunday. The meeting condemned and rejected Israel's "provocative practices" that harm feelings of all Muslims and constitute a violation of international laws and charters, Sheikh Mohammad Al- Abdullah said. The ministers reiterated Kuwait's unwavering stance supporting the Palestinian cause and the Palestinians' right to have their independent state, with East Jerusalem as a capital, as well as Israel's withdrawal from the territories seized in 1967, in line with the relevant resolutions of the international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative. Meanwhile, Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed the meeting with the outcome of a visit by Egypt's Foreign Minister recently paid to Kuwait, to discuss regional developments.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled also informed the ministers about the details of the "positive talks" he had with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who visited Kuwait Sunday. The talks reviewed on developments on the regional and international scenes, as the two sides exchanged views on a favorable atmosphere for boosting peace, security, and stability, and also to push ahead development efforts in the region. In the meantime, the ministers approved and referred to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah draft bills on endorsing the final statements of institutions with independent budget for the fiscal year 2014-2015.

The bills will be later referred to the National Assembly. The meeting also approved and referred to His Highness the Amir a draft bill on endorsing the 2014-2015 financial statement of the state financial administration. The bill will later find its way to the parliament. In addition, the Cabinet meeting reviewed the 43rd report recently released by Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) the fiscal year 2014-2015. The report includes the CBK Balance Sheet, the Profit and Loss Account for the FY ending 31st March 2015, in addition to the Auditors' Report on the financial statements.
