Saudi- 70 of unemployed are women

(MENAFN- Arab News) ALKHOBAR: Jobless Saudi women constitute 70 percent of the unemployed. The Ministry of Economy and Planning said 58 percent of the jobless have preparatory school level education.
According to the statistics the annual unemployment growth rate among university degree holders declined to 6 percent while the growth rate of the unemployed Saudi population recorded 1 percent in 2014.
The ministry said that housewives represent about half of the unemployed Saudi population while students enrolled in training programs reached 39 percent.
In spite of the low percentage of the Saudi population unwilling to work representing only 1 percent there is a great increase in the growth rate of this category as their number rose 297 percent registering 14103 individuals in 2013 compared to 55985 the following year.
The proportion of males in this category constitutes 43 percent while females account for 57 percent.
On this increase the ministry said that it is due to the reluctance of young Saudis to take unskilled jobs provided by the private sector which are not commensurate with their qualifications as most of them hold university degrees.
