The latest resource update for Shanta Gold's (LON:SHG) flagship New Luika mine in Tanzania has increased the miner's confidence in its long term future it said. Infill drilling in January this year across nine holes at both the Bauhinia Creek (BC) pit and Luika increased confidence in underground mining at both of these deposits. Metminco (LON:MNC) said it will produce over 765000 tonnes of copper and generate US$2.7bn in earnings over 17 years from the Los Calatos project in Southern Peru after it released the results of the latest mining study at the project. Elsewhere Medusa Mining (ASX:MML) met its production guidance for the year to end June it said revealing output was 98539 ounces of the yellow metal. In other news gold mine developer Ariana Resources (LON:AAU) has brought in £1mln via a share placing and subscription to further exploration at the Kiziltepe sector of its Red Rabbit project in Turkey. SolGold (LON:SOLG) has moved a second drill rig on site at Cascabel in Ecuador as its latest drilling showed more signs of copper.
