Prison reforms cybercrime among key issues tackled by Shoura

(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: The Shoura Council made 92 decisions in six months during its current sixth session. The decisions included 48 new systems on projects amendments to certain regulations and annual performance reports of ministries institutions and government bodies as well as international agreements and memorandums of understanding.
A Shoura Council report said that 26 of the decisions concerned rules and regulations including 21 special rules and regulations from the government three resolutions regarding topics returned to the Shoura Council based on Article 17 and two specific proposals for a new system. Also issued were resolutions on annual reports from ministries and governmental institutions international agreements and memorandums of understanding and a number of interventions on all subjects.
The report said that there were 61 subjects still under study of which 18 were terminated pending discussions and suggestions to vote on the recommendations of the committees concerned.
Prominent among the subjects approved by the Shoura during the third year of the sixth session of the board were the prison system and detention the draft of audiovisual media systems and amendment to the text of Paragraph 4 of Article 18 of the proceedings before the ombudsman.
Also approved was the addition of a penalty for defamation contained in Article Vl of the system against cybercrime the proposals of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on the inclusion of libel penalty regulations related to the ministry's work (Amendment to Article XX1V of the e-system) modification of the regular material relating to penalties for Haj service system rules of discipline of the pilgrims' guide in Makkah and communities' agents and the system for pilgrims in coming to the Kingdom and leaving for their respective home countries.
The report stated that there were many topics being studied in the specialized commissions.
