Audioboom adds 1mln users in first half


(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors)-- ADDS BROKER COMMENT AND UPDATED SHARE PRICE --  Digital social media platform Audioboom (LON:BOOM) added a record number of users in May boosted by a surge of popularity in the US. Around 200000 new users joined the platform in the month with 1mln added in the first half of the year. It also added 1000 new content partners and signed up controversial comedian Russell Brand to be the face and voice of the company in the six months to 31 May. More than 1.5mln people downloaded its mobile app which was launched on Apple products at the end of last year and Android in February. Rob Proctor chief executive said: 'Our high profile marketing campaign headed up by a content partnership with Russell Brand to position the mobile app to a younger audience proved to be successful and the number of app downloads continues to build momentum with record numbers recorded in May.' A deal with the US's second largest radio group Cumulus saw US-based users rise accounting for more than half of current listens compared to less than a third a year ago. Arden Partners said: 'Post the Cumulus deal we expect revenues to start building as the second half progresses.' Revenues almost doubled to £46000 (£24000) but losses widened to £2.9mln (£0.75mln) as it continues to boost users and content partners. 'Revenues of 50000 reflected the fact that to date the business has focused on content acquisition' Arden said. Shares lost 9% to 5p today
