Iran, France presidents discuss bilateral ties, regional issues


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his French counterpart Francois Hollande conferred on promotion Tehran-Paris diplomatic, economic and cultural ties as well as the latest developments in the Middle East region.

This came in a phone call between the two men on Thursday.

Rouhani referred to untapped capacities between the two countries to increase bilateral relations and said, "In the last ten years, both countries have missed numerous opportunities to deepen and develop their relations." "Now, it is the time to make up for the past," he said according to the presidential website.

He also urged the P5+1 group of world powers, including France, to commit themselves to the provisions of nuclear agreement reached with Iran and called for their endeavors to enforce next steps in the deal's execution.

On his part, the French president thanked President Rouhani's role in the success of nuclear talks, announcing that French foreign minister is due to visit Tehran for cementing of bilateral ties and outlining a roadmap to deepen the existing relations.

Hollande welcomed practical steps to execute the nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1 and said, "We can develop our cooperation in energy, oil and aviation sectors." (end)
