(MENAFN- Arab News) This refers to the report 'Oldest Qur'an (copy) found in Britain.' (July 23)
David Thomas professor of Christianity and Islam described the find as a 'startling result.'
The professor said that 'This tends to support the view that the Qur'an that we now have is... very close indeed to the Qur'an as it was brought together in the early years of Islam.'
I appreciate Prof. Thomas for his frank admission not just about the veracity of the manuscript but also his belief that Qur'an that we have today is an unchanged version of the original one.
This is important because anti-Muslim forces including Christian missionaries have never failed to raise the finger of doubts on the authenticity of the Qur'an as pure unchanged unadulterated religious scripture.
This they do to put the holy book on a par with their own scriptures which have all without distinction been contaminated with the passage of time.
And that is why they have the problem of digesting the fact that Islam's is the only perfect scripture in the world that in other words testifies the true message of the faith and which rightly declares that there is no god but God and Muhammad is His Prophet. Ateequr Rahman Makkah
