Sheikha Fatima approves logo of Emirati Women's Day


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has approved the logo of the Emirati Women's Day.

The logo symbolises the unique identity of Emirati women. It depicts the UAE flag, with an illustration of a woman on one section.

Earlier this year, the 28th August of each year, a day that marks the establishment of the GWU, was declared the Emirati Women's Day.

The day is seen as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Emirati women since the GWU was established in 1975 as an official body to work for and ensure the advancement and empowerment of the UAE women. The GWU enjoyed the support of the UAE's founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The GWU has continued its mission, thanks to the unlimited support of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.
