(MENAFN- QNA) PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi condemned Israel's illegal Israeli settlement activity, theft of Palestinian land, the evacuation of hundreds of families and plans to forcibly displace the Palestinian people, in flagrant defiance of international will and international law.
In a press release,Ashrawi condemned the Israeli Civil Administration’s approval of the construction of 886 settlement housing units in illegal West Bank settlements.
She urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for its systematic violations and withdrew the legal and political cover for it.
She reiterated that settlement construction and expansion should be considered war crimes that should not go unpunished by the international community.
Yesterday, the Israeli daily Haaretz said the so-called Israeli Civil Administration in the West Bank was set to approve the construction of a total of 886 new housing units in illegal West Bank settlements.
It reported that among the permits to be issued by the Civil Administration’s planning and building committee on Thursday is one that approves the construction of 296 units in Beit El, to be built on the site of an Israeli Border Police base which will be evacuated.
