(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Several consumers have expressed disappointment over many outlets still using plastic cups, plates, plastic bags for serving and packing food items which is prohibited in Qatar. They urged concerned authorities to crack down on such shops and force restaurants and bakeries to use paper cups and bags to serve food items.
Article 2 of Law Number 1 of 2009 on human food packing stipulates that producers, distributors and sellers of food, bread and frozen foods must use recyclable paper bags for packing and serving food items. The aim banning plastic cup for hot food is to protect the health of people and environment.
