QR600m saved on gas usage to produce power and water


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar has saved around QR600m by reducing use of gas for production of electricity and water, said Engineer Saleh Hamad Al Marri, Chairman, Renewable Energy Technology, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

He was speaking at a forum in Milano Exhibition 2015 in Italy. He said Kahramaa has put a plan in place to rationalise and increase efficiency of energy production and consumption, Al Sharq reports. The electricity project using solar energy aims to reduce carbon emissions and meet two percent of total electricity demand. Other speakers spoke about the importance of sustainable energy.

Second CMC meeting on September 2

DOHA: New-elected Central Municipal Council (CMC) members for the fifth term will hold second meeting on September 2 to set up service and public facility, legal, complaints and council affair panels, among others. The fifth term is expected to be challenging as members will discuss issues, including internal regulations, new headquarters for CMC and recommendations forwarded by the previous council. Chairman Mohamed bin Hamood Al Shaifi urged members to cooperate and study and understand CMC laws. He said it is important for them to understand CMC's relations with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, Ashghal and other ministries and departments.
