(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Demonstrators demanded an end to the Russian "occupation" of two breakaway regions of Georgia on Saturday.
More than 1,000 protesters gathered in the capital Tbilisi to call for a more robust policy for dealing with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"Let us all say no to Russia, long live Europe," activist Giorgi Tughushi told Anadolu Agency.
Last week, tensions rose when Russian troops placed border markers along South Ossetia's the southern boundary with Georgia, placing part of a vital oil pipeline within Russian-controlled territory.
Russian soldiers remained in Abkhazia and South Ossetia - which it recognizes as independent states - following a five-day war with Georgia in 2008.
The protesters also called for the cancelation of the talks between prime ministerial advisor Zurab Abashidze and Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Grigol Karasin.
