EU Ready to Mobilize To Assist Tunisia in Security, Economy


(MENAFN- QNA) The European Union (EU)’s Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove reiterated the bloc’s willingness to support Tunisia in its fight against terrorism, Tunisian Press Agency (TAP) reported.

The EU is ready to assist Tunisia, "a friend of Europe" and a model of democratic transition, so that it may overcome current security challenges in particular, De Kerchove pointed out following a talk with Tunisian Premier Habib Essid who is participating in Brussels in a EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on security and counter-terrorism.

The European official said the meeting helped take stock of the series of measures designed to improve the security situation in Tunisia, the purpose being to promote tourism and employment and reboot the economy.

The EU is willing to mobilize to assist Tunisia in security matters and help boost its economic development, he pointed out.
