(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron will be revealing the government's plan regarding the
žght against extremism during his speech in English city Birmingham, Home
Secretary Theresa May has stated Monday.
Speaking to British press, May pointed out that Cameron will focus on
the poisonous ideology causing radicalization of certain individuals.
"The plan would include new legislation," said May. "The counter-extremism strategy is a
wide-ranging strategy. Part of what we will be doing is legislation but that is only part of it.
In the counter-extremism bill that we'll introduce there will be powers to be able to take
action against individuals or against groups."
The home secretary added that the plan to combat extremism will be submitted to the
parliament in the fall.
In his speech in Birmingham Monday, Cameron is expected to mention the issue of
integration in the U.K.
In an interview to the American channel NBC on Sunday, Cameron said that the U.K.
was determined to work with the U.S. to "destroy" the so-called Daesh caliphate, whether in
Iraq and in Syria.
The prime minister told U.S. viewers that he wanted Britain to do more but said he would
"always have to take my parliament with me".
Lawmakers voted against military action in Syria two years ago, blocking a government
proposal to join U.S.-led air strikes against Daesh in Syria, although MPs did approve
strikes against the group in Iraq.
More than 700 Britons have travelled to Syria and Iraq to join extremist groups and
hundreds have returned to the U.K., according to counter-terrorism police.
