India Pakistan border bitterness stops sweet exchange by armies

(MENAFN- Arab News) NEW DELHI: Amid rising tensions on India-Pakistan border the custom of exchanging sweets on festivals by both countries' armies was suspended on Saturday. The practice that resumed in March was called off along the Wagah border in Punjab on the occasion of Eid.
Border Security Force (BSF) Deputy Inspector General in Amritsar M.F. Farooqui told reporters that their gesture of giving sweets on the occasion of Eid was not reciprocated from the other side along the Attari-Wagah border.
'We give sweets on Eid every time. The Pakistani Rangers have not accepted it today. We always want to maintain peace and tranquility on the border' he said.
Meanwhile Chinese media have reported that the drone which was shot down by Pakistan and which became a major issue between the two countries was made in China. The drone was 'recognized in Beijing as the Chinese made DJI phantom 3' the People's Daily said in a report on its website.
The Phantom 3 Advanced represents the most intelligent most powerful and most accessible drone to date the report said. The drone sells for $1200.
Pakistan Army had claimed that it shot down the drone in the Bhimber area of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. Pakistan had summoned Indian High Commissioner T.C.A. Raghavan on Thursday to protest airspace violations and unabated cease-fire provocations.
