Australia's Rio Tinto iron ore output increases 9 percent in Q2


(MENAFN) Rio Tinto, the Australian mining company, recorded a 9 percent increase in iron ore production during the second quarter of the year, according to a corporate statement, The Australian reported.

The company's global iron ore production increased to 79.7 million tons during the second quarter, boosting total output for the first half of the year to 154.3 million tons.

Production for the quarter was slightly below forecasts for 81.9 million tons, after Rio has cut its quarterly expectations in the first quarter due to difficult weather conditions.
