Qatar- Museum invites families to celebrate Eid


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum (FBQ Museum) is inviting families to celebrate Eid holidays at the museum.

There is special tours of collections, accompanied by guides, artistic workshops and other activities.

Families can choose from painting, calligraphy, collage, clay sculpture and drawing workshops, led by education specialists with each workshop costing QR60 per participant per session.

The painting workshop on Sunday from 10.30am to 11.30am and Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 11am aims to inspire participating families with the extraordinary collections to paint.

Participants will be able to draw on collection themes and use creative energies to produce artworks they can take home to frame or give as gifts.

The calligraphy workshop, twice a day on Sunday from 10.30am to 11.30am and 2pm to 3pm and Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 11am and 2pm to 3pm will see the museum's Arabic calligraphy artist teaching children and adults the art of Arabic calligraphy and its uses in art forms and objects.

Families will be able to distinguish Arabic calligraphy styles to produce artworks.

Since the inception of Islamic art, Arabic calligraphy has been an important art form Muslims and Arabs have used to decorate their homes.

At the collage workshop from 1pm to 2pm on all three days of Eid, recycled paper, magazines and newspapers will help participants create a collage.

Participants are encouraged to bring old magazines and newspapers to recycle and develop artworks. They will learn how to make a collage they can take home at the end of the session.

The clay sculpture workshop from 10.30am to 11.30am and 3pm to 4pm on all three days of Eid will train participants in the use of clay to produce small- scale sculptures.

Known to be a particularly messy activity, the workshop will bring out the pottery artist in all participants.

The activity gives budding clay sculptors complete artistic freedom so they can come up with forms and shapes to convey their vision.

The drawing workshop will be held from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on each day of Eid to inspire participants after viewing the museum's collections.

As every drawing starts with a line and is the result of many lines merging images and forms to represent ideas and stories, participants have the chance to move through the museum, look at the collections and draw their impressions of artworks at the museum. At the end of the workshop, participants will hopefully feel they have mastered the art and know how to start and finish a drawing.

The museum is open all days during Eid holidays from 10am to 7pm but it is necessary to book your visit on the website ww.fbqmuseum.org or by calling the museum on 66874177.

Admission for children under eight is free, visitors up to 18 years will be charged QR10 and adults QR15 each.
