Canada, Ukraine ink a free trade agreement


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Canada on Tuesday announced a free trade agreement with Ukraine expected to increase Canadian exports to the embattled eastern European country by more than 40 million Canadian dollars, dpa reported.

The deal announced was by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper after a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk inQuebec.

It comes ahead of parliamenatary elections on October 19 and was seen as a bid by the conservative government to win votes from the 1.2 million Canadians of Ukrainian descent.
