Qatar's Al Jazeera unit purchases Turkey's Digiturk
(MENAFN) A subordinate of Al Jazeera, the Qatar-based TV network, has announced the acquisition of a Turkish satellite network Digiturk, according to a corporate statement, Reuters reported.
In March, BeIN Media Group, which runs the beIN sports network of channels operating in Asia, Europe and the United States, was in advanced talks to buy the Turkish network.
The value of the deal remains yet undisclosed. Digiturk importance comes from its broadcasting rights for Turkey's top soccer league until the end of the 2016-2017 season.
