Saudi- BJP's communal politics

(MENAFN- Arab News) This is with reference to the article 'Welcome to Modistan' by Syed Tausief Ausaf (July 8). I read the article with great interest. The writer has exposed Modi and his government. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power mainly due to the weakness of the Congress-led government. Despite the huge mandate the BJP and its poster boy Narendra Modi don't possess the qualities required to rule a diverse country like India. Communalism is part of the BJP's genetic makeup and its leaders are not literate enough to think beyond communal lines.

Had Modi been a true leader he would have strongly reacted to the stupid statements issued by his party leaders. He is just an ordinary politician who has been portrayed as a leader and solution to all the problems of India. His policies will cost India and Indians dearly. The problem with the people of our part of the world is that they attach too much importance to huge infrastructure projects without realizing the overall impact of those projects on the economy and the masses. Initially such slogans do appear attractive but over the time the bitter truth emerges but usually it is too late for any corrective measure. We should realize that such huge projects are basically planned to earn money through kickbacks. This however does not mean that civic infrastructure should not be developed. Our so-called leaders need to prioritize social and economic issues. People who think that the BJP-led government will do wonders are living in a fool's paradise. Yawar Jameel Jubail
