MoT and Oman Post form joint committee to promote tourism


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) and Oman Post have formed a joint committee to promote the sultanate's tourism.

The decision to form the committee was taken on Monday at a meeting held in the presence of H E Maitha al Mahrouqi Undersecretary in MoT and Ali Mohammed Ali al Farsi deputy chairman of the board of directors Oman Post and acting chief executive officer. Salem al Hashmi director general and Hussain al Lawati assistant general manager of services and support of Oman Post were also present at the meeting.

'A joint committee has been formed by MoT and Oman Post' an official from Oman Post said adding that special areas will be set up at around 11 to 15 Oman Post offices for tourism promotion. The main aim is to spread awareness about Oman's tourism potential to the hundreds of customers who visit Oman Post offices daily.

'Brochures CDs and maps will be kept to showcase the different tourist spots of the sultanate. Oman Post officials will also provide details about the MoT app which will help tourists get information about hotels resorts car rentals and other services. Our offices are visited by hundreds of customers daily. We hope that this initiative will help promote Oman's inbound tourism in a big way.'

Oman Post will promote tourism through its website and mobile post boxes. 'Our website will have advertisements by MoT. This will help attract more tourists from abroad' the official added. Oman Post is also planning to participate in the Salalah Tourism Festival which begins on July 23. 'We will promote tourism at the festival through our stamps.'
