Qatar gets top placing in Holy Qur'an contest


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The State of Qatar has won the second ranking at the Algeria International contest for memorisation, interpretation and recitation of the Holy Qur'an.

Qatar was represented by Abdullah Abu Sherida in the category of memorising the Holy Qur'an.

Qatar also achieved the fourth rank at the Jordan International competition for Holy Qur'an memorisation. The country was represented by Abdulaziz Helwan.

The Great Mosque in the Algerian capital of Algiers last night witnessed the honouring of the top place winners in the competition, which had the participation of more than 50 Arab and Islamic countries.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has expressed keenness to participate in international Holy Qur'an contests.
