QC Iftar meals for 80,000 in Gaza

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Charity (QC) plans to provide Iftar meals for around 80,000 fasting people in Gaza during Ramadan.

QC continues holding mass Iftars (28 banquets) in several regions in the Strip benefiting over 34,000 people.

The banquets target orphans sponsored by QC, unsponsored orphans, and people with special needs. Four banquets were provided for these groups last week.

Coinciding with mass Iftars, QC also distributed 13,072 hot meals to 4,311 families during the first half of Ramadan.

A total of 38,000 meals are planned to be distributed by the end of Ramadan to benefit over 80,000 people.

Mass Iftars included educational, religious and recreational activities to provide psychosocial support for targeted groups, essential especially in the aftermath of the Israeli war which cast a heavy shadow on the life in Gaza.

Orphans, whose fathers were martyred, were among vulnerable groups affected by the 2014 war.

Iftars also included activities such as religious counselling, chanting, puppets' shows, and other recreational games.

The manager of QC's office reiterated the charity's commitment to continue providing development and relief services for target groups.

Participating organisations thanked QC for efforts to support the Palestinians and its role during Ramadan, especially mass Iftars.

QC works in full capacity to continue distributing hot meals for families not sponsored by its programmes. It works through a network of 61 local partner organisations operating in the development and relief sectors.

During the last 10 days of Ramadan, QC has is executing Eid cloths and Zakat Al Fitr projects.
