Over 27000 court cases filed during Ramadan


(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: Courts across the Kingdom admitted 27526 cases in the month of Ramadan and the number of civil suits tops the list with 12577 cases the Ministry of Justice has said.
A total of 45 judges in 41 courts and the administrative staff will be working during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday the ministry was quoted as saying by a local publication. The courts will be functional throughout the Eid holiday to consider urgent cases the ministry said.
Riyadh ranked first in terms of cases with the General Court considering 1304 civil cases and 91 other cases while the Criminal Court in the capital considering 1242 criminal cases and 138 civil cases.
The General Court in Makkah came second on the list with 876 cases including 467 civil cases and two criminal cases. In Madinah it considered 927 cases including three criminal and 923 civil while the Criminal Court admitted 241 criminal cases and one civil; in Jeddah it considered 18 criminal cases 34 other cases and 868 civil cases while the Criminal Court saw six civil cases and 581 criminal.
In Dammam the General Court considered 783 civil cases against 25 other cases.
