Jordan gets USD265m soft loan from France to fund projects


(MENAFN) The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has obtained a USD265 million finance to help implement three major water and energy projects, according to the country's French Ambassador, Jordan Times reported.

The entire sum will be allocated so that UAD167 million to be invested over as a water sector policy loan and USD43 million for Wadi Al Arab conveyer project in Irbid, which is already being funded by the European Investment Bank.

Moreover, the Green Corridor project is to get USD55 million of the total finance. France has also completed a USD166 million finance dedicated for the Bus Rapid Transit project.

Jordan has undertaken courageous economic reforms, and "thanks to these reforms the budget deficit has decreased and the public debt has started to decrease," the French ambassador added.
