GM to recall 155k units in India on wiring fault

(MENAFN) General Motors Co said it will recall 155,000 vehicles in India due to wiring problems linked to a remote keyless entry accessory, marking the largest recall to date in the country, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The recall, also one of India's biggest, follows a recall of 114,000 Tavera sports utility vehicles in 2013. That recall aimed to address issues relating to emission standards and other regulatory specifications.

GM India said it would call back Chevrolet Spark and Beat hatchbacks and Enjoy multi-purpose which are produced between 2007 and 2014 and fitted with the accessory, which allows remote keyless unlock.

"The remote keyless entry accessory meets all the relevant regulatory standards; however, GM India has been made aware of some isolated cases where certain units were fitted with a faulty accessory," GM said.
