Qatar- MoI to hold entertainment events during Eid holidays


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Entertainment and sports events for expatriates will be held on first two days of Eid Eid Al Fitr in the Industrial area and Al Khor. 'Cultural, recreational and sports activities on Eid Al Fitr for communities' is organised by the Ministry of Interior together with Barwa and Asian Town, officials said yesterday.

The events at 'Barwa workers recreation complex' in Al Khor Industrial Area and Asian Town cricket stadium in Doha Industrial area will be held on the first and second days of Eid Al Fitr between 3 pm and 10 pm, said Col Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, director, public relations department, Ministry of Interior at a press conference.

Ali Muhammed Al Darbasti, adviser for real estate development affairs in Barwa, Muhammed Mahdi Ajyan Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Ibn Ajyan projects and Azeem Abbas. head of the cricket tournament organising committee were also present at the press conference.

The events at Al Khor Barwa Workers complex, will include performances by 'Popins' a local Nepalese orchestra and 'Sariga' a local Indian orchestra.

Also finals of the 'Ramadan Championship 2015' organised by the Ministry of Interior for companies and communities in cricket and volley ball will be held on the first day of Eid and the finals of the football and basketball on the second day of Eid Al Fitr.

The cricket stadium at Asian Town (near Grand Mall) in Industrial Area will host a cricket tournament among Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Qatari teams from 3pm to 10pm in first and second days of Eid. 'Eid Al Fitr 2015 Six NationS Cricket Tournament' will be held at Asian Town cricket stadium on the first and second days of Eid Al Fitr from 3 pm to 10 pm.

"According to our previous experience in organising cricket matchs for the Ministry of Interior on the occasions of Qatar National Day in 2013 and 2014, we expect a huge crowd from the Asian community for this tournament as it is held on the Eid holiday and it's the most popular game among the Asian community in Qatar," said Abbas.

The entry to the two days event in each of Al Khor Barwa Workers Recreation Complex and Cricket stadium in Asian Town near Grand Mall at Doha Industrial area is free and the organisers have arranged valuable prizes for the public through raffle draw and there will be special areas for the families. The companies interested to send their workers to the event in Al Khor can coordinate with Bahauddeen on 30396976 and to the event in Doha Industrial area can coordinate with Siraj on 33587015.
