5 elderly men among 7 killed in Benghazi
(MENAFN- Arab News) BENGHAZI: Two loyalist soldiers were killed Monday in clashes with armed groups in Libya's restive city of Benghazi a pro-government news agency said a day after five elderly men died in shelling.
The soldiers died during fighting in the Bouatni district of southeastern Benghazi.
On Sunday shells struck a residential neighborhood killing at least five elderly men and wounding 17 people Al-Jalaa hospital said on its Facebook page.
It said the victims who died in 'indiscriminate shelling of Beirut street' in central Benghazi were four men in their 70s and one aged 65.
Almost 1800 people have been killed in the violence that has gripped in Benghazi since early 2014 according to the Libya Body Count watchdog.
LANA also reported quoting military sources that last week the Libyan air force launched air strikes on ships off Benghazi suspected of carrying weapons to armed groups.
