Kuwait blast: 5 Saudis among 9 charged


(MENAFN- Arab News) DAMMAM: The Kuwaiti security authorities have submitted the final charge sheet on nine suspects including five Saudis involved in the June 26 bombing of a mosque in Kuwait.
The defendants have been referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution sources in Kuwait's Interior Ministry were quoted by local media as saying.
A total of 27 worshippers were killed and 226 injured after a Daesh bomber blew himself up at the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in the neighboring country.
The Kuwaiti security sources quashed rumors about the presence of six female suspects in the case.
Defendants include the owner and driver of the car in which the bomber traveled to the mosque the man who harbored the terrorist in his house and his brother.
The sources confirmed that the case file has been referred to the public prosecution. The investigation into the attack took 16 days for completion and was carried out in cooperation with Saudi security authorities.
The probe revealed that the nine suspects belong to Daesh and five of them are Saudis. The suspects have been charged with planning an execution of the attack.
