Greek PM describes Eurozone deal as "difficult"

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras Monday said that he gave a "tough fight for an agreement that will give Greece the chance to stand on its feet." Speaking to reporters after the agreement of the Eurogroup leaders to provide Greece with new bailout funds, he said "we are in front of a difficult decision." "The agreement is difficult but we averted the transfer of public assets abroad. We averted the plan for a financial strangulation and for the collapse of the banking system," he said speaking in Greek.

The leader of the Leftist government in Greece said he knew that the implementation of the agreement will be difficult but added that Grexit is a thing of the past and hoped that the majority of the Greek people will support the new deal.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters that "the road will be long, and judging by the negotiations tonight, difficult." On her part, Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the IMF, said "it is a good step to build confidence and there will be many more steps I am sure that will be demonstrated by the implementation of what has been agreed now."
