Kuwait- 'Be More Vigilant, Trade Info To End Terror Crime'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah urged heads of political security departments in the GCC countries to be more vigilant and exchange information to eliminate terror crimes.

Sheikh Mohammad and the political security chiefs exchanged views over latest security developments following the deadly attacks on mosques in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, the interior ministry said in a statement Saturday.

Two attacks on two mosques took place in Saudi Arabia cities of Qateef and Dammam killing and wounding several people. A deadly attack on Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in downtown Kuwait during Ramadan this year claimed lives of 26 martyrs and injured 227 others.

Sheikh Mohammad said more vigilance was needed in addition to rapid share of information in order to eliminate these terror crimes in a drive to safeguard security and safety of citizens. The meeting was attended by Interior Undersecretary General Sulaiman Al-Fahad and his Assistant for State Security Major-General Esam Al-Nahham.

Sheikh Mohammad, meanwhile, said ministry's personnel highly appreciated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's speech, which he delivered two days ago, in which he praised the security forces for their rapid apprehension of perpetrators of Imam Al-Sadiq mosque.

Meanwhile, Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Khaled AlKheder vowed to resolutely protect and defend homeland While visiting the Striking Squad of the Land Force, Lieutenant General Al-Kheder lauded efforts being exerted to protect the homeland, the Defense Ministry's Directorate of Moral Guidance and Public Relations said in a press statement Sunday.

He said that all personnel of the armed forces are up to responsibility, the statement added. Al-Kheder conveyed the greetings of Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al- Sabah to the army's personnel, it noted.

The visit reflected Al-Kheder's interest in the Kuwaiti Army's personnel, it said. Al-Kheder was accompanied by Deputy Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Abdullah Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah and the Commander of Land Force Maj. Gen Khaled Saleh Al-Sabah.
