Qatar- Three Asian suwaika dealers held in Interior Ministry raid


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Interior Ministry's Preventive Security Department has raided a residence in Doha and arrested three Asians who were producing and packing suwaika.

Suwaika is a narcotic substance which is harmful to health.

In a press release issued yesterday, the Interior Ministry said 3,286 packs of suwaika were found in the possession of the three persons. The Ministry has seized the narcotic substance and the three arrested persons have been referred to authorities concerned for violating the law governing the entry, exit, residence and sponsorship of expatriates.

On receiving information that a number of persons were producing, packing and selling suwaika in a house in Doha, the Preventive Security Department of the Interior Ministry conducted investigations, and after collecting evidence and monitoring the movements of the suspected persons, a plan was drawn up to catch them red handed.

After obtaining permission from the Public Prosecution, the house was raided and three persons belonging to Asian nationalities were arrested and 3,286 packets of suwaika were found with them.

The Preventive Security Department has urged citizens and residents to co-operate with security agencies of the Ministry of Interior by reporting any person suspected of producing and dealing in suwaika by contacting the Department's Operations Centre on 2346000, Al Adeid service on 2346111, faxing on 44477779, sending text message to 92994 or e-mail to aladeidmoi.gov.qa
