Qatar- Court orders firmto payQR100,000 fine

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) A Doha Criminal Court has ordered a contracting company to pay a fine of QR100,000 due to negligence in observing safety procedures at a worksite, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.

Two Arab workers were injured after an under-construction wall fell on them, which caused them several fractures.

The company offered them a sum of QR10,000 to renounce their legal rights but they refused to do so.
Through witness accounts and police reports, the court confirmed that the company had not provided its workers with adequate personal protection equipment.

This proved negligence on the company's part in following safety and security regulations at work, put in place by the local authorities.
