Eurogroup to resume "difficult" Greece talks ahead of crisis summit

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Eurozone finance ministers were set to resume talks Sunday on Greece's economic fate, with just hours left to achieve a breakthrough in time for a crisis summit of their national leaders, dpa reported

Sunday has been set as the deadline to reach an agreement saving Greece from bankruptcy, amid warnings that failure to strike a deal by then could lead the country to crash out of the eurozone.

Greece has requested a new bailout from the European currency bloc and has proposed reforms it would carry out in return for the aid.

But the finance ministers on Saturday failed to agree a position on the reforms and a 74-billion-euro (82-billion-dollar) new rescue package being considered for Greece, with many questioning if they can trust the country to implement its promises.

Some also complained that the reform proposals - which have received cautious backing from creditor institutions and an endorsement from the Greek parliament - need more substance to be credible.
