Jordan- Interior Minister checks on southern border post

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Interior Minister Salamah Hammad Saturday checked firsthand on measures introduced at the Omari Crossing on the border with Saudi Arabia to facilitate travel from and to Gulf Arab countries.

During a tour of the border post, accompanied by finance minister Umayyah Touqan and minister of tourism and antiquities Nayef al Fayez, Hammad listened to travelers as they aired their observations, expressing satisfaction that no delays occur when their documents had been processed.

Touqan pledged support for the border post and announced the allocation of an extra sum of money to help personnel carry out their tasks and elevate their performance.

Fayez also commended the border facility for the new measures that had largely helped to enhance tourism from Gulf Arab countries.

Director of the Omari Post, Col. Mousa Hiyasat, briefed the ministers about projects carried out at the border facility, noting that 599,000 passengers had arrived in Jordan via the post since the start of the year, along with 606,000 departures.
