Tunisian rescue teams recover 32 bodies of drowned migrants


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Tunisian rescue teams in cooperation with the coast guards retrieved Saturday more four bodies of the drowned migrants were found near El-Ketef port in Ben Guerdane.

This takes the number of recovered bodies of illegal migrants whose boat capsized off the Tunisian coasts on July 3 on their route to Italian shores, local Tunisian media reported Saturday quoting a civil defense sources.

On June 10, Tunisia's navy rescued 356 migrants who had left Libya on a makeshift vessel on their way to Europe.

According to UN High Commissioner for Refugees figures, of the more than 219,000 migrants who tried to cross the Mediterranean in 2014, at least 3,500 lives were lost.

Hundreds have also died this year attempting to make the perilous crossing to Europe, including some 750 people when a trawler sank in April.
