Oman's inflation rate advances 0.18% in June


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman's annual inflation rate increased 0.18 per cent in June according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). The consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.51 per cent month-on-month.

The accommodation water and fuel segments posted a 0.68 per cent increase while transportation costs jumped 0.02 per cent.

Health recorded a 2.24 per cent increase while prices of household appliances equipment and customary maintenance increased 0.32 per cent. Education set prices advanced 4.49 per cent while restaurants and hotels registered a gain of 0.33 per cent. Prices in the culture and entertainment segment inched up 0.01 per cent.

However prices of foodstuffs and non-alcoholic beverages dropped 0.09 per cent while the clothes and shoes set logged a 1.69 per cent decrease. Telecommunications prices slipped 0.17 per cent while the goods and miscellaneous services set logged a 0.11 per cent decline.

The Dhofar governorate recorded the highest price rise at 0.98 per cent followed by Muscat with 0.49 per cent Dhahirah with 0.36 per cent and Buraimi with 0.14 per cent. Annual prices were 0.1 per cent lower in North Batinah while they fell 0.43 per cent in North and South Sharqiyah and 0.16 per cent in Dhakiliyah.

On a month-on-month basis the foodstuffs and non-alcoholic drinks segment increased by 1.81 per cent. Accommodation water electricity and fuel and transport prices increased by 0.12 per cent and 0.25 per cent respectively. The education health and communication group remained unchanged.
