'Sedition Attempts In Kuwait, Saudi Arabia United Arabs'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubair said Thursday that recent attempts to fuel sedition in the Gulf region by bombing a number of mosques in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have actually united Arab citizens, who countered such attempts by their solidarity, unity, and compassion towards each other. "Any attempt to feed sectarian sedition will fail," Al- Jubair said during a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh in the Jordanian capital.

Replying to a question on the Kingdom's desire for better relations with Iran, the Saudi minister affirmed that his country will not tolerate Iran's backing of anti-government riots in the region, particularly in Yemen. Al-Jubair also described the Saudi-US ties as "strategic, historic, and important", and that Riyadh consults with Washington on issues in the region, expressing appreciation for the US supportive stand to his country in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia deals with the region's issues in accordance with its interests, including its relation with the United States, Al-Jubair said, stressing the need to judge the current US policy from the region's issues. He also said that his country enjoy deep and strategic ties with Jordan, affirming that his Saudi Arabia sees Jordan as a strong ally and partner that backs the Saudi stand in Yemen, as well as in facing extremism, the Syrian crisis, in addition to a number of the region's issues.

On talks with Judeh, the Saudi top official mentioned that they discussed joint cooperation relations and ways to boost them towards the best, noting that there was also a mutual agreement in stands towards a number of issues such as Iraq, Syria, Iran, Yemen, and terrorism.

Meanwhile, Judeh said that discussions addressed bilateral ties and ways to bolster them, as well as efforts to counter terrorism, stressing the importance of uniting efforts to fight terrorists who exploit the religion of Islam as a cover for their criminal acts. He also said that they discussed the Palestinian cause and the importance of re-launching a serious and effective peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis.
