Saudi's inflation rises to 2.2 percent in June


(MENAFN) According to newly released data by the Central Department of Statistics, Saudi's inflation rate increased to 2.2 percent last month, Arab News reported.

The date showed that prices of housing and utilities surged 3 percent compared to June 2014. Meanwhile, food and beverages prices inched up 2.2 percent in the cited period.

Housing inflation kept being the largest contributor to the overall inflation since the beginning of the year, contributing by 0.8 percent in May of the current year.

In May of this year, food prices declined to 0.1 percent, which is a drop from 0.4 percent registered in April of the same year, the department's released data showed.
