Seven soldiers wounded in protest in Beirut


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Seven Lebanese soldiers were wounded during a protest near the Grand Serail in Downtown Beirut, said the Lebanese Army on Thursday.

The seven soldiers were wounded in a clash with protesters through an army barrier in Downtown Beirut, the army added.

The injured were transferred to army hospital for medical treatment, it noted.

"Our goal is to protect the constitutional institutions and public and private property, ensure the safety of citizens as well as secure the freedom of expression of all the Lebanese people in accordance with the laws and regulations," the Army said.

The violence began when MP Michel Aoun's Free Patriotic Movement supporters staged a prtoest near an army barrier in Downtown Beirut. (end) wsm.hs
