Jet Airways flight makes emergency landing in Muscat

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Indian private airlines company Jet Airways said on Thursday that its flight from Mumbai to Dubai has been forced to make an emergency landing in Oman capital city of Muscat following a bomb threat. Jet Airways announced in a statement that flight 9W 536 with 61 people on board was diverted to Muscat after the security alert following a tweet warned about a bomb.

"Jet Airways flight 9W 536 which departed from Mumbai at 12:46 PM for Dubai has been diverted to Muscat due to security alert. The flight, with 54 passengers and 7 crew members on board, landed at Muscat airport at 1:20 PM. All passengers and crew have been deplaned and taken to the airport terminal. Local agencies are on the location," Jet Airways said in its statement.

The development comes two days after a Turkish Airlines flight was forced to land at Indira Gandhi International Airport while it was flying from Bangkok to Istanbul on board 134 passengers.

The message about a bomb written in the mirror of Turkish flight's washroom with lipstick turned out to be a hoax. (end) atk.gb
