Indian Supreme Court orders probe into massive employment corruption case

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Indian Supreme Court issued an order Thursday asking to transfer all the cases related to the massive illegal admission and employment cases in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh to the Central Investigation Buero (CBI).

The order came following deaths of a number of culprits and witnesses in the cases in suspicious circumstances including a journalist and head of a college and allegations that powerful hands are behind these killings to protect high level government officials and businessmen from the billions of rupees corruption cases.

The local police had launched an investigation into the cases famously known as Vyapam a Hindi acronym for the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board.

The opposition parties, media organizations and human rights bodies both domestic and global demanded an impartial investigation following the recent death of a Delhi based journalist while investigating the case and a local police inspector who got the job through the scam in addition to the deaths of a number of accused and witnesses in the cases.

The apex court order to transfer the cases to the CBI comes amid reports that yet another man connected to the scandal became the latest among the 45 victims.

The Supreme Court also sent a notice to the Governor of the State Ram Naresh Yadav who is suspected of involvement as his accused son also died in suspicious circumstances in the past.

The local police had arrested the former education minister and an officer working under the state Governor in addition to a number of students who took admission through illegal means and their parents. (end) atk.ibi
