SDO eulogizes victims of mosque attack

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Social Development Office (SDO) held a meeting on Wednesday eulogizing victims of the recent terrorist attack on Imam Al-Sadeq Mosque in downtown Kuwait City.

Dr. Abdullah Sahar, SDO's director, noted in his eulogy that the response of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah when he first heard of the mosque attack was a crystal clear testimony to the fact that the Kuwaiti leadership and people were together in their rejection of acts of terror.

Dr. Sahar added that SDO was naming one of its departments after Dr. Jassem Al-Khawaja, who died in the attack on the mosque, and who was one of SDO's primary contributors.

Furthermore, Dr. Sahar said that SDO, in conjunction with the caretakers of the Imam Al-Sadeq Mosque, was continuing to offer aid and comfort to the families of the victims of that vicious attack on the house of worship.

Also eulogizing victims of the attack was Kuwait University professor Saleh Al-Saffar who indicated that His Highness the Amir's meeting with families of the bereaved and his taking part in the bi-sectarian prayers at the nation's Grand Mosque showed vividly the nation's unity and solidarity behind its leadership.

Another eulogizer, Dr. Fayez Al-Nashwan, SDO's legal consultant, said that today's meeting embodied SDO's commitment to reflect the societal spurning of acts of terror and the fact that Kuwait in 2004 was a co-signer of the international agreement for fighting terrorism.

In view of the harrowing incident at the mosque, he said SDO was keen on preparing a thorough study of the ubiquitous phenomenon of terrorism with the objective of presenting it to appropriate authorities for their evaluation and use.
