Kuwait- Cleric Influenced Death's Driver

Date:

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Abdulrahman Eidan Saud, who drove the suicide bomber Fahd Al-Qaba'a to Imam Al- Sadiq Mosque told interrogators that he was influenced by an Afghan who preaches in a mosque in Jahra, reports Al-Rai daily.

However, the preacher, whose identity has not been disclosed and who lives with his wife and sons, denied the allegations. He said he was always opposed to the ISIL or the so called DAESH ideology and has even written a book about obedience to the ruler.

A total of 198 expatriate preachers of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs were dismissed recently, as they were being paid remuneration while many of them did not possess an academic degree and some among them reportedly followed extremist ideologies, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting an informed source from the ministry.

He revealed that Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al- Sane' decided to terminate the services of all expatriate preachers hired by the ministry after discovering that seven of those preachers were wanted by security authorities.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has approved the conditions and regulations allotted for 'Mutakifeen', which is the term referred for individuals who spend the last ten days of the Holy Month of Ramadan inside mosques to worship.

According to a circular issued by the ministry, the mosque's Imam will be responsible for the Mutakifeen. A 'Mutakif' must be above 18 years of age and those below the age of 18 must obtain their guardians' consent for the 'Itikaf' (seclusion for worship inside a mosque). A Mutakif must provide the Imam of the mosque with his name, contact number and where he wants to do Itikaf.

The circular stressed the need to adhere to the Sharia rules and general manners and to maintain order without causing inconvenience to other worshippers at the mosques especially those who offer regular prayers.

It instructed for the allocation of a place outside the mosque premises for Itikaf so that the participants do not cause any inconvenience to others who visit the mosque

Efforts
US officials have praised the efforts exerted by the Kuwaiti security authorities to arrest within record time members of the terrorist network, Islamic State or the so-called DAESH, which had claimed responsibility for the bombing of the Imam Al-Sadiq mosque in Sawaber by the suicide bomber Fahd Al-Qaba'a, reports Al-Rai daily.

At the same time a senior US official was quoted as saying he regretted the terrorist attack that claimed the lives of worshipers including Kuwaitis. He said, all security agencies around the world are continuously pursuing the criminal and terrorist gangs and that in most cases, the security devices have succeed in foiling a vast majority of the attacks and in also taking proactive measures to dismantle the sleeper and active terrorist cells.

He added all the security agencies around the world face the risk because terrorists too can strike successfully inflicting damage and kill innocent people. He said Washington still believes that Kuwait plays a vital role in the fight against terrorism at all levels and the success of the Kuwaiti security authorities within hours of committing the crime will send a message to the terrorist groups that the Kuwaiti security authorities are watchful 24/7.

Loopholes
As the Ministry of Interior and security agencies affiliated to it continue to exert tremendous efforts to strengthen security and eliminate crime, there have been loopholes in our system which put the lives of citizens and expatriates in danger, reports Al-Qabas daily.

It is an admitted fact that expatriates who had been convicted by a court and administratively deported from the country have managed to re-enter on fake passports using fake names. What makes the matters worse is that they entered the country after the fingerprints devices were installed at ports of entry.

The fingerprints devices were installed in April 2011 and hundreds of expatriates managed to slip through the system using forged passports within a few months while several others were arrested. The question is: "How did the deportees manage to enter the country through the international airport and border ports in spite of the presence of the fingerprints device? The daily added, the security authorities have recently arrested around 50 expatriates who were deported years ago and were able to enter the country after the installation of the fingerprints device, which confirms there are security flaws in the system.

A reliable security source said intensive investigation was conducted to identify how the deportees were able to reenter the country. The investigation showed some of the securitymen who work on the device have committed serious mistakes that allowed the deportees to enter the country. The source added some securitymen took the fingerprints but examined them inappropriately, while others might have not even examined them.

Campaign
Former MP Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabaei was recently quoted as saying he is dismayed at the smear campaign launched against him, reports Al-Rai daily. He denounced what he called 'organized slander campaign', the sole purpose of which is to link him to the DAESH terrorist organization.

During an interview with the Al-Rai daily, Al-Tabtabaei said he was one of the first men who, three years ago, spelled out the danger of the Islamic State for the Syrian Revolution and had warned against the possibility of Kuwait being the next target after Saudi Arabia shortly before the suicide bomber blew himself up inside the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Sawaber.

At the same time, Al-Tabtabaei wondered why the Ministry of Interior did not deny the charges posted against him on the social networking sites through fake accounts.

In this context, Al-Tabtabaei noted that he has begun to file lawsuits against these electronic accounts for exploiting the recent terrorist attack in the country to settle personal political rivalry.

Al-Tabtabaei affirmed that all that has been said that his name surfaced during interrogations with the suspects of the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque is baseless.

He pointed out he is totally against this terrorist organization and against those who adopt its ideology and approach.

Al-Tabtabaei explained his activity was limited to Syria, mainly the Free Syrian Army. He added, he went there to hand over the money to the Free Syrian Army € the money which was collected through donations in Kuwait.

He said, not a penny was given to the Al-Nusra Front because of its affiliation to the al-Qaeda network.
