Oman- NFC to run more trips on three routes during Eid

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The National Ferries Company (NFC) has said that it will run additional trips on the Muscat-Khasab Shinas-Khasab and Shannah-Masirah routes to cater to increased demand during Eid holidays.

Speaking to Muscat Daily Ghazi al Zadjali head of marketing and communications at NFC said that there is usually huge rush among local tourists to visit Musandam and Masirah Island during Eid holidays. 'We believe that the additional trips will help in providing the much-needed transport required to meet the increased demand.'

From the regular one round trip per week on the Muscat-Khasab route the company will make the service thrice weekly from July 19 to 25. The ferries will run from Muscat on Sunday Monday and Thursday at 12 noon and from Khasab on Tuesday Wednesday and Saturday at the same time. Additionally on the Shinas-Khasab route the company is increasing the number of trips from the regular one to and fro service to three round trips per week. The ferries will run from Shinas on Sunday Monday and Thursday at 12 noon while from Khasab they will run on Tuesday Wednesday and Saturday at 1pm.

The Shannah-Masirah route which sees the maximum rush during holidays will also see the maximum increase - from two to six round trips per day. The service will start at 8am and run till 6pm. It was launched last year just after Eid al Fitr holidays and has been successful in streamlining traffic to the island.

According to NFC this route witnessed the highest traffic during Eid al Adha holidays with two ferries Shannah and Jawharat Masirah carrying 7113 passengers at an average daily rate of 711. These ferries also transported 1781 vehicles.
