Qatar- Elan Decaux sponsors environment awards


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Elan Decaux, in partnership with Elan Group, has sponsored the 12th session of Arab Towns Organisation Award held in Doha under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, president of the organisation and the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning.

Reiterating its commitment to maintain the natural environment and support the beautification of the city, Elan Decaux sponsored the environment awards across three categories: Environmental Awareness, Environmental Integrity and the Environment Advocate Award.

Since its inception in 2004, under the name "Qatar Media", the company has redefined the concept of outdoor advertising with creative designs and concepts that contribute to the natural landscape and are in sync with the environment.

The 12th Arab Towns Organisation Award was attended by officials and representatives of Arab cities and Arab Cities Organisations. HE Sheikh Abdulrahman delivered a key note speech and honoured 10 winning cities and five Arab personalities in the fields of environment and information technology.

Arab Towns Organisation Award, founded in 1981, is based in Doha. The organisation encourages the promotion of Islamic and Arab architecture in modern buildings, maintain and preserve historical buildings and advocates reliance on rich Arab traditions and heritage in the day to day contemporary lives. The organisation also encourages plantation of trees to conserve the natural ecosystem and supports the incorporation of renowned traditional design elements into modern architecture.
